ABOUT SUPERTRAN
Experience behind every connection.
Built on more than 40 years of transformer industry experience and a deep understanding of what it takes to get critical power projects energized successfully.
OUR FOUNDATION
Built on four decades
of knowing what matters.
Our foundation comes from Cy Cates, whose career has focused on solving real transformer and power quality problems, and on the details that determine how a transformer performs over time.
- 1978Begins his career in the electrical field at GE.
- Early 1980sMoves into transformers and utility systems at Westinghouse. Working with major Central Texas utilities, he studies pole-mounted transformer construction, materials, teardown results, and the design details that affect longevity.
- Harmonics & power qualityWorks on electrical harmonics challenges with GE, Los Alamos Laboratory, Schenectady engineers, Sandia Laboratories, the Very Large Array in New Mexico, and White Sands Missile Range.
- 1990Moves into industrial electrical sales, specializing in power transformers for industrial plants.
- 1995Establishes his first manufacturers’ representative business, working with Balteau Standard Transformers, GEC Alstom, Areva, Olsun Dry Type Transformers, and Pacific Crest Transformers.
- 2016Founds what later became supertran, to give customers a better transformer partner: technical understanding, faster response, durable equipment, and practical support from quote through energization.
That history shapes the supertran of today.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
You’re not just buying
a transformer.
You’re moving a project forward.
You’re trying to energize a facility, meet a project schedule, prevent downtime, protect critical operations, and avoid costly surprises. A delayed transformer, poor field coordination, a failed test, a missed commissioning window, or a lack of warranty support can put an entire project at risk.
OUR MISSIONHelp customers get the right transformer solution faster, energize on time, and keep critical operations moving.
ONE PARTNER. THE FULL PICTURE.
Support that goes
beyond the nameplate.
Transformer equipment access combined with technical review, custom solutions, U.S.-based support, and in-house service capabilities.
Technical understanding
Equipment sourcing and specification review grounded in real factory and field experience.
Built around your application
From FR3 fluid to advanced thermal class designs, including 140°C with FR3, for more continuous overload capacity and cooler running under demanding conditions.
Continuity through delivery
Manufacturing oversight, FAT witnessing, logistics, installation, assembly, and commissioning support.
An in-house service team
Field assembly, inspection, oil processing, acceptance testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs, and emergency response, because service is often the difference between delivery and project success.
Exceptional quality
Strict quality control at every stage of production to meet or exceed industry standards, with production integrated under one roof, from raw materials to radiators.
Warranty & value
A robust warranty covering materials and workmanship, U.S.-based warranty response and lifecycle service, and top-tier equipment without the premium price tag.
